PhoQS Researchers Organize Lecture Series at Germany’s Largest Physics Conference

From March 16 to 21, 2025, the Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section (SKM) of the German Physical Society (DPG) took place in Regensburg. With more than 6,000 participants, it is Germany’s largest physics conference and an important platform for researchers and industry representatives from all fields of physics and technology.
Dr. Christof Eigner and Dr. Michael Rüsing from the Paderborn Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS) also contributed to the program by organizing an interdisciplinary lecture series within the Division of “Crystalline Solids and Their Microstructure.” The series highlighted recent advances in materials research, focusing on their potential applications, for instance, in quantum optics and quantum computing.
A highlight of the series was the invited presentation by Laura Barrett and Prof. Dr. Carlota Canalias from KTH Stockholm, who discussed innovative material fabrication methods for quantum optical devices. The subsequent discussion and the Division’s networking event provided an excellent opportunity to initiate new collaborations and expand professional networks.
Due to the success and positive feedback, the Paderborn researchers plan to continue the lecture series at the next DPG Spring Meeting in 2026.
