In celebration of the International Day of Light, our Optica Student Chapter organized an exciting Game Night Event that combined science, fun, and student engagement. Held on 14th of May 2025, the event brought together students from the physics department to enjoy a series of light-themed games and interactive challenges. Participants competed in activities such as optics puzzles, laser chess, and light-based quizzes, all designed to highlight the importance of light and its applications in everyday life and scientific discovery. The event created a dynamic and enjoyable atmosphere, where learning and entertainment went hand in hand.
In addition to the games, we also hosted a watch party featuring the lecture "Quantum Information Science: an Overview" by Prof. Michael Raymer from the University of Oregon. The talk offered valuable insights into the fundamentals and future potential of quantum technologies, complementing the theme of the evening.
We are grateful for the generous support and funding provided by Optica and the PhoQS. Their contribution played a crucial role in making this event a success and in supporting our mission to promote scientific outreach and education. We thank all participants for the memorable celebration of the International Day of Light and we look forward to hosting more creative and inspiring events in the future.
