First Scientific Exchange Between the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS) and Tyndall National Institute

The Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS) is hosting its first scientific exchange with the Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland. This exciting collaboration includes a scientific workshop led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Schumacher and his Theoretical Physics Group, together with Prof. Dr. Klaus Jöns and their teams of scientific researchers. The workshop was focused on deterministic photon emitters – semiconductor quantum dots and quantum-dot molecules – with the overarching goal to generate and tailor complex photonic quantum states for quantum information technologies.

As part of the collaboration of the two research institutes, PhoQS welcomed PhD students Neil O’Connor and Barry Lynch from Tyndall (3rd and 4th from the right) from Dr. Stefan Schulz’s group at Tyndall, fostering active dialogue between the researchers at both institutions.

Formalized by a recently installed institutional collaboration agreement (memorandum of understanding), with this strategic partnership, PhoQS and Tyndall highlight their dedication to synergistic international cooperation and their focus on advancing photonics and quantum technologies, with a particular emphasis on supporting early-career researchers.
