Op­tic­al Stu­dent Chapter: Event for the In­ter­na­tion­al Day of Light

Leading up to the international day of light, we are very excited to invite you to the International Day of Light: Game Night! During this celebration, you will be presented with a series of optics and photonics related games and challenges that will test your knowledge and keen... and you could even win a special prize! All while enjoying some free pizza, snacks, and drinks.

The event will open with an introduction from the new Chapter Chairs and an overview of our plans for the remainder of the year. We would be happy to get your feedback and suggestions.

 

Testing your photonics and puzzle-solving skills

The game will officially begin at at 17:50. You will compete in teams in games, such as laser chess, trivia, and more, centered around light, photonics, and science for a chance to win a grand prize. 

 

Get expert insights into the world of quantum information science with a slice of pizza

At 19:00, there will be a screening of a 40-minute Optica presentation of Quantum Information Science: an Overview by Prof. Michael Raymer from University of Oregon who gives fascinating insights into the development and breakthroughs in this field. Pizza will be served. 

 

Relax with some board games

That is not all, however. After the main event, we invite you to stay and hang out and try some board games we have prepared for you. Of course, feel welcome to bring your own games and also whoever you feel would be happy to join our light celebration!
