#2 Workshop: PHOTONICS FUTURE. Profound | Equal | Inclusive

10 and 11 September 2024 | Hotel Gräflicher Park, Bad Driburg

A celebration of scientific excellence, diversity, and inclusivity

A constantly changing world requires profound scientific and technological knowledge. Successful science works best without any kind of boundaries, neither international nor gender boundaries. Let’s work on excellent research in an inclusive and respectful environment.

This is all about inspiration!

With this workshop, we invite renowned female scientists as role models to present their work. By displaying their internationally recognised research in seminar talks and a panel discussion, we aim to show best practice and discuss the implications of equity and gender equality.

“It truly proved to be an incredibly engaging and inspiring event, and I can only hope that all the other attendees found it as enjoyable as I did. Being part of the majority and feeling appreciated in a safe environment had a big impact on me, and I deeply appreciate the opportunity.”

Dr. Elisabeth Agudelo | TU Wien, Austria (Speaker of the first workshop in 2023)

  • After the successful first workshop in 2023, the next workshop will be conducted as a joined event between the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS) and the CRC TRR 142.
  • For encouragement, we invite only female speakers to present their research - and to share personal experiences on their way through their academic endeavours.
  • Young female and male scientists are invited to learn about the latest research results of women researchers in the field of Photonics – and to gain insights in their career paths.
  • The goals? Listening to each other´s experiences, learning about the other`s perspective and exploring ways of how we want to create our own respectful and inclusive scientific environment. Let´s aim for a charta of positive attitudes that we can all agree upon!
  • We would like to encourage participating female and male scientists to contemplate on their role as future scientists in a gender-equal scientific world, offering time and space for confidential talks on either side.

#1 Workshop: PHOTONICS FUTURE - Profound | Equal | Inclusive. TRR 142-Workshop for young researchers

Bad Driburg, 19 and 20 September 2023 | Young scientists of the CRC TRR 142 and guests presented their current research and reflected on career paths within sciences – and what it needs to overcome our own unconscious biases. Established female researchers shared their latest scientific work, and they allowed insights into their personal career.
